This is a 252-hour course that includes all of Career Bundle 1 (STICK, MIG, and TIG welding, along with an introduction to reading blueprints and basic fabrication essentials), as well as PLASMA cutting, and OXY ACETYLENE basics for heating and cutting. This is for the student who is ready to pursue a career in the welding industry.

Students who complete our Career bundle program are prepared to step into the welding industry with the confidence and skills needed to succeed as a welder. The Qualifications/certifications our sudents earn are mild steel structural groove welds in each of the four processes covered in the program: MIG, Stick, and TIG. Every student begins with stick welding, upon completing the first unit, they will take the MIG/MAG unit finishing the program with Tig. Each student is allowed 100 in shop hours for stick welding, 60 hours for MIG, and 80 hours for TIG. Throughout the duration of the program, we cover basic weld symbols, OXI-Fuel cutting and Plasma cutting processes allong with safe operation of standard shop equipment, band saws, drill presses and other common welding/fabrication shop tools.

 

Weld tests are conducted when students are nearing the end of their time limit in each unit, students are encouraged to test in the highest level position they are comfortable in by the end of each unit so they are qualified for as many positions as possible. We understand that every individual will learn at a different pace, we begin with 1G welds and once they demonstrate competency in that position, they move to the next position and so on, until they fulfill their hours and test. Each unit concludes with two weld test plates, one will be used for an x-Ray inspection that will be used for the paper certification. The other test plate is used for a bend test which the student will prepare and conduct themselves with instructor guidance, simulating widely used job testing procedures they are likely to encounter in the field. Students must pass both the bend test and x-ray test in order to move to the next unit. Each unit includes one test opportunity, if the student does not pass on their first attempt, they can retake the test as many as two times, the fee for retakes is 350$ for each test.

Bonus 2 weeks! Every student is allowed two bonus weeks in the shop that they can use either to retake a test, learn a process not covered in the program ex: Aluminum TIG or they can use their final two weeks to learn basic fabrication techniques. We strongly recommend that students use their final two weeks to do a fabrication project with the instructor teaching them various shop skills such as cutting, forming, bending, layout, measuring and even some machining. The specific project will depend on the skills the student wants to learn and what the school needs, past student projects include shelving, tools, and other items that improve the functionality of the shop environment.
